2010 RWA Librarian of the Year
Jennifer Lohmann
Durham County Library, Durham, North Carolina
Jennifer Lohmann graduated from library school in 2006 and has been a romance reader since high school. She teaches a readers' advisory class on the romance genre to library students and advises NoveList database catalogers about romance. She also promotes romance by putting romance novels into regular library publications for the Durham County Library System.
According the Lohmann, receiving the 2010 RWA Librarian of the Year Award is "totally awesome! It's hard to describe how pleased I am. ...I'm planning ways to use the award to do more promotion including a larger romance tea and my book club...is reading a romance in July—our discussion is the night before I leave for the conference. I'm sure I'll get some conversions over to the romance side of life, even if they don't admit it!"
RWA will present the 2010 RWA Librarian of the Year Award to Jennifer Lohmann on July 30, 2010, at the 30th Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.
