Lifetime Achievement
RWA Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award
One of the highest honors RWA bestows is the RWA Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is presented to a living author in recognition of significant contributions to the romance genre. To qualify for the award, the recipient's career in romantic fiction must span a minimum of 15 years. Recipients must in some way continue to promote the romance genre, teach romance in fiction, or publish romantic fiction. In 1994 a new requirement was added, that recipients must maintain active RWA membership. Authors are nominated for the award by RWA members and selected by the Board of Directors.

Brenda Jackson
Brenda Jackson has written more than 90 novels and novellas and has more than 3 million books in print. Her career began in 1994 when she signed with Kensington Arabesque, and since then, she's introduced readers to the Madaris family, the Bennetts, the Westmorelands, the Montgomerys, the Masters, the Savoys, and the Steeles. Over the years, Jackson has received numerous awards and made many trail-blazing accomplishments by being the first African-American author to have a book published under the Harlequin/Silhouette Desire line of books and the first African-American romance author to make the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists for the series romance genre. She also was a 2012 NAACP Image Award Nominee for A Silken Thread.
RWA will present Brenda Jackson with the RWA Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2012 RWA Conference in Anaheim, California.
