    2013 Golden Heart Contest Open to Entries

    The Golden Heart Contest opened for entries at 8:00 a.m. Central Time on November 15, 2012.  The contest will be conducted entirely online this year!

    The Golden Heart contest is open to RWA members who have not accepted a publishing offer for, or Self-Published, a work of original fictional narrative prose of 20,000 words or more by January 2, 2013. Entered works must not be published as long as they are under consideration for the Award.

    The contest entry fee is $50.00 per entry.

    Instructions for Members Who Have Not Yet Volunteered to Judge:

    Please read the instructions thoroughly.

    • Click on the link, https://www.formopro.com/mr.asp?2.269608.8. The link to the entry form should not be shared or forwarded.
    • On the Welcome page, click the next button.
    • Enter your e-mail address in the New User section; enter your e-mail address again.
    • Click Next.
    • There will be a pop up box, in the top right corner, click close.
    • Enter your First Name
    • Enter your Last Name
    • For User name, enter your e-mail address or a user name you will remember. 
    • For password type in the password you would like to use, it can be the same one used on myRWA.
    • Confirm password by entering it again.
    • Select a validation question, there are several to choose from in the pull down menu. 
    • Type the answer.
    • Uncheck the Opt-in box (there is no need for anyone to opt into this).
    • In the company field, slowly type the work SELF…if you pause a drop down menu will appear and the word Self will be listed several times, click on one.
    • Scroll to the bottom of the page and check "agree to terms and conditions" box.
    • Click Next.
    • You will receive a confirmation/validation e-mail. There will be a link that you must click on to complete the process.  The link will return you to the FormoPro page and ask you to log in with your user name and password.
    • Click Next.
    • You will be asked ot confirm that you are you and your company, which may say SELF or whatever you originally entered.
    • Click Next. The Contest Rules  and Guidelines page will appear.
    • At the very bottom of the page is the Agreement to the terms of the contest. Check "I have read the rules and guidelines and agree to these conditions.”
    • Click Next.
    • Select the category for your manuscript. If applicable, select a secondary category and/or “would like refund if first category is not available.
    • Click Final (you may click Draft if you plan on returning later, but you must click Final when you are ready to pay).
    • Enter Pseudonym, if applicable.
    • Enter Manuscript Title.
    • Enter Word Count.
    • Synopsis Upload; click the Browse button to the right of the text box. The browse function will allow a screen to open so that you may search your computer for the correct files. Once you locate the file, single click on it and then click the Open button located in bottom right corner of the screen. The file will upload and you will see the file name in the text box once the upload is completed. Note: You must upload a file; you may return to the contest site late and replace the file with a new file.
    • Partial Upload; click the Browse button to the right of the text box. The browse function will allow a screen to open so that you may search your computer for the correct files. Once you locate the file, single click on it and then click the Open button located in bottom right corner of the screen. The file will upload and you will see the file name in the text box once the upload is completed. You must upload a file; you may return to the contest site late and replace the file with a new file.
    • Full Manuscript Upload; click the Browse button to the right of the text box. The browse function will allow a screen to open so that you may search your computer for the correct files. Once you locate the file, single click on it and then click the Open button located in bottom right corner of the screen. The file will upload and you will see the file name in the text box once the upload is completed. You must upload a file; you may return to the contest site late and replace the file with a new file.
    • Click Next.
    • At this point, you will see your entry along with the entry fee, and the status will say Not Paid
    • The title will be listed, you may click the Add Entry button, if you would like to enter another entry, or if you are ready to complete the process check the box next to your entry title and then click Next.
    • The Payment screen will appear. We accept Visa MasterCard or American Express.  If you use a debit card, it must have the Visa or MasterCard logo.
    • Fill in the blanks for payment and click Next
    • You will see a confirmation screen and receive two confirmation e-mails. One e-mail will be a thank you for entering, and the other will be a confirmation for payment (which can be used as a receipt).

    • Read the contest rules
    • Check "I have read the rules and guidelines and agree to these conditions" button.Click Next.
    • Select Final
    • Select if you are willing to judge more than one packet of manuscripts.
    • Select the first category you would like to opt out of judging (Note: the categories are listed in the pull down menu. Entrants will be automatically opt'd out of any categories that they enter).
    • Select the second category you would like to opt out of judging (Note: the categories are listed in the pull down menu. Entrants will be automatically opt'd out of any categories that they enter).
    • Click Save.
    • A message stating you have successfully saved your judge application will appear.
    • Click Next.
    • A message stating that your judge application has been successfully submitted will appear.
    • Click Logout in the top Right corner of the page.
