About the PRO Community
RWA welcomes writers at all stages of their careers from the unpublished, to the "almost" published, to the published and the multipublished. In an effort to meet the needs of all its members, RWA has several Communities of Practice (CoP) which are communities of people who come together with a common interest to share ideas, find solutions, and build innovations.
PRO was created to serve RWA members who are pursuing publication, but are still waiting for "the call" from a publisher. PRO promotes the interests of RWA members who have submitted at least one completed manuscript, but have not yet been published, and, to enhance communication between those members and publishing professionals.
PRO focuses on the business side of writing rather than craft and offers many benefits to its members. To be eligible to join PRO, RWA members must either provide proof that they have completed a romance manuscript and that they have submitted the manuscript to a publisher or literary agent.
This program is available to any General or Honorary member who: (1) is not PAN-eligible, (2) has completed a work of romantic fiction of 40,000 or more words, excluding collections of short stories, novellas or poetry, and (3) has submitted this work to a literary agent or non-Subsidy/non-Vanity romance Publisher.
Membership in the PRO Community of Practice is available only for active RWA members.
