“Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing
The 2015 “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing is a mass book-signing event, where hundreds of romance authors sign books (donated by publishers) for fans, with the proceeds of the event donated to local and national literacy organizations. The 2015 Literacy Autographing event will take place Wednesday, July 22, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the New York Marriott Marquis.
The event raises tens of thousands of dollars for literacy programs every year. RWA receives author requests for book donations through May 1, 2015, and then submits the requests to publishers around mid-May. Publishers donate books for their authors to sign, which are then sold for the cover price at the event.
The purpose of the RWA Trade Show is to provide a venue for authors to make connections with companies that offer business assistance to authors. Indie Book Signing
We’re introducing an opportunity for a limited number of authors with self-published romance novels to participate in the Indie Book Signing at the 2015 RWA Annual Conference. These will be run in a very similar fashion to the Publisher-Hosted Book Signings, but in this case, we will have several author-publishers in one room to give away promotional copies of their romance novels.
Participating authors must commit to providing a minimum of 48 romance novels to give away in a physical format (card with a free download, print, CD, flash drive, etc.)

Publisher-Hosted Book Signings
A publisher-hosted book signing allows authors to meet readers (conference attendees) and sign their latest romance releases during a one-and-a-half hour time period. An RWA staff member arranges the date and time of the signing based on available space, in consultation with the publisher. To arrange for a publisher-hosted book signing, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to submit a request. All authors participating in the book signing must be registered for the RWA Conference.
A Publisher Spotlight features a panel of editors who discuss the publishing experience at your house, explain what you acquire, and give an overview of your publishing program. To arrange for a publisher spotlight, e-mail email@example.com.
RWA Conference sponsorship provides a direct link to your target demographic and an avenue to promote your publishing programs, new lines or authors. Your publishing program can be a Platinum-, Gold-, Silver-, or Bronze-level partner through a sponsor buy-in or through the sponsorship of a conference item/event. The total amount spent sponsoring a conference item or event contributes to the total needed to reach a partner level. RWA allows publishers and attendees to provide promotional items and/or books for conference attendees in the Goody Room. The rules for the Goody Room have been updated as follows:
- Books must have a 2014 or 2015 copyright date and be romance novels.
- All items must be in a container no larger than 8.5” w x 12” l x 6” h.
- Excess items are not allowed to be stored in the Goody Room.
- Any items not in a container will be discarded.
- Signs or displays that do not fit within the container will not be allowed.
- Items left over at the end of conference will be discarded.
