How Libraries Can Spend Less and Circ More on Romance Titles
Dena Heilik (Free Library of Philadelphia) and Lateefah Zawistowski (OverDrive)
Romance readers are tech savvy and rely heavily on their local library to make recommendations and have the newest titles available in multiple formats. With the growth of mobile devices, ereaders and popularity of audiobooks, the demand on libraries’ digital collections has seen a dramatic hike. The result: more usage, more users, more holds and longer waitlists. These increases, along with changes in pricing and terms, make building and maintaining a digital collection a difficult reality. Learn how to leverage your current collection and manage demand in order to keep your romance readers happy.
11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Learning the Secret Language of (Romance) Books and Readers
Jennifer Lohmann (NoveList)
Readers and books speak to each other in a secret language of appeal, genre, and themes. Whether you've got a reader interested in steamy, contemporary romance on a travel adventure or a heartwarming, historical romance with a strong sense of place, there's a vocabulary you can learn to help you better understand what your readers are looking for and to find books that match their style. Join Jennifer Lohmann, Director of Sales and Marketing for NoveList, romance author, and former RWA Librarian of the Year for a practical training on speaking reader language focused specifically on romance novels.
