Advocacy Update: Amazon/KDP EU Royalty Payments

On Tuesday, July 8, RWA staff spoke with their contacts at Amazon about issues with authors receiving certain royalties from Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Our contact assured us that this is of the highest priority, and they are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible. They issued the following statement:

"We are actively working to resolve a delay that is affecting some of the June royalty payments for EU marketplaces. We are working diligently with our banking partners to quickly resolve this issue. We’ll provide an update as soon as possible, and apologize for the delay."

RWA staff is regularly in contact with Amazon, advocating for our members, the romance genre, and all authors. After fruitful discussions between Amazon Books executives, RWA, and other writers organizations, Amazon established a special point of contact for top-level staff at the major writers organizations to bring forward high-priority issues. We used that contact in this matter. We appreciate that Amazon has provided this avenue of communication for all author groups, and we will use this relationship to encourage a timely resolution to this matter.

We will continue to work with members to resolve individual professional relations issues in a timely manner. If you are in need of professional relations assistance, please contact [email protected].

**UPDATED**
Amazon issued the following statement July 10:
