RWA Develops App to Engage with Readers

Novel Engagement logo

Romance Writers of America is excited to announce the development of its romance-specific book discovery app, Novel Engagement™.

Novel Engagement will provide RWA’s authors with a romance-specific venue for promoting their work, and it will give romance readers a free one-stop resource for finding the books they want to read. Launching in May 2014, this app will be available on multiple platforms and multiple devices. A website that mirrors the app will shortly follow the launch of Novel Engagement.

In the app, romance authors will be able to engage with readers through author and book profiles, push notices for release dates, a calendar of upcoming author events, contests and trivia, sharing to social media, to-be-read lists, and much more!

Only RWA members may purchase author profile subscriptions for the app. The cost of one 12-month author profile is $99, and authors may purchase up to five author profiles (for different pseudonyms). Each author profile comes with an unlimited number of book profiles. As an added incentive for authors, the 12-month subscription won't begin until 1,000 readers have downloaded the app.

Members, learn more about the app and purchase author profiles at (log-in required).

This sounds like a great leap forward and into current social media demands. Will this app perform much like Goodreads?

Salina, the great thing about the Novel Engagement app is that it is specifically focused on romance authors and romance novels. Readers will be able to search on romance authors, book titles, subgenres, create to-be-read/read/favorites lists, see upcoming author events and so much more. You can view more information on the app features at

What happens if I stop being an RWA member?

April 2, 2014 05:10 PM by Heather Wardell

My membership expires in October and I haven't yet decided whether I'll renew. If I have bought an author profile subscription and then do not renew, does my subscription continue?
