Planning To Set Your Authopreneurship on Autopilot

Whether you’re trad or indie or just starting out, if you’re serious about your author career, you need to be a business person too.  And if you can raise a child, be successful at a day job, or organize the messiest volunteer assignment, you have the skill set to set your business activities on autopilot.  This session will help you plan for your success as an authorpreneur and develop a sound strategy to implement your plan.  Own the title proudly through an easy, four-step planning process!

In this workshop, you’ll learn:

  • What it means to be an authorpreneur
  • How to apply the skills you already have to successfully manage your authorpreneur business
  • Four steps to easy business planning

Interactive activities help you to define:

  • Your purpose and values as an authorpreneur
  • Personal inventory of skills, craft analysis and environmental review
  • Brand inventory of products and services
  • Methods to allocate scarce resources
  • Setting the pesky business stuff on autopilot

And don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of time for questions!  Start that list of yours and I’ll do my best to answer them!  What’s holding you back?

Hack Your Reader's Brain

9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

HACK YOUR READER’S BRAIN—Bestselling fiction doesn’t happen because the writer gets all of the so-called rules of fiction right. It’s not about avoiding gerunds or -ly adverbs or head-hopping. People read a book from beginning to end because they’re carried away, fully engaged. They stay interested all the way through. In other words, they don’t get bored. But how do we do that? If only there were some way to tap into how to engage the reader’s brain. Well, there is! Come hear the neuroscience of reader engagement, and learn how to use it to catch your reader’s attention, utterly engage your reader, and keep your reader reading all the way to the end.

When you’re truly ready to make your fiction publishable, it’s time to call Jeff Gerke. Jeff trains novelists how to better do what it is they’re trying to do. He trains through his top-rated Udemy class, “Write Your Best Fiction and Get It Published.” He trains through his latest e-book, Hack Your Reader’s Brain: Bring the Power of Brain Chemistry To Bear on Your Fiction. He trains through his five books for Writers Digest: The Irresistible Novel, Plot Versus Character, The First 50 Pages, Write Your Novel in a Month, and The Art & Craft of Writing Christian Fiction. He trains through the many writers’ conferences he teaches at all over the country every year. He trained his authors when he ran Marcher Lord Press, the premier publisher of Christian speculative fiction, which he sold after an award-winning 5-year run. And he trains through the freelance editing he does for his clients at Jeff is known for his canny book doctoring skills and his humorous and encouraging manner, which leaves writers feeling empowered and like they really can do this thing after all. He lives in Colorado Springs with his wife and three children.
