A technology muse like Dr. Vanessa Riley is probably not the immediate choice to write about haute ton English society set in the 1800's. Yet, she has dedicated decades to research forgotten peoples that made a difference. Today, she writes Delightfully Different historical romances primarily set in 1800s England. She is giving voice to voiceless 10,000 peoples of color who loved, laughed, and lived full lives, even as the sands of time buried their stories. Vanessa writes of the 10,000-person Blackamoor and mulattoes population living in London during the time of Jane Austen. This population was free and as some gained wealth, some intermarried but all mingled in society. Their love story must be told.
Vanessa holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering and masters in industrial engineering and engineering management from Stanford University. She also earned BS and MS in mechanical engineering from Penn State University.
Her debut Novel, Madeline's Protector released in April 2013. Today, she is the author of over fifteen novels and is excited about upcoming Entangled and Barbour 2018 releases featuring Regency Blackamoor Brides.
Vanessa juggles an artsy teen, her military hubby's logistics, software development, writing and speaking at women's events. She’s known for her humorous delivery of poignant truths. You can find her at:
