Changes to Facebook News Feed Algorithm

Facebook announced Monday that their News Feed algorithm will change to cut down on posts they deem to be "engagement bait"--posts designed to prompt users to engage in a way that "seeks to take advantage of [the] News Feed algorithm by boosting engagement in order to get greater reach."

Starting this week, posts that request people to react, share, vote, tag, or comment on a post without offering "meaningful" or "authentic" content in return will be shown less in the News Feed, and over the next few weeks, Pages that consistently post this type of content to "artificially gain reach" will be demoted.

Facebook's post on this new algorithm can be found here, and includes examples of types of posts to avoid. We encourage all authors who maintain Facebook Pages to read the full piece.
