The RWA Women's Fiction chapter was created to support women's fiction writers whose work is romance-friendly.
Though traditional books in the women's fiction genre often contain romantic elements, some contain tragic endings for the romantic couple. RWA-WF books are different. Our authors produce stories that—like all women's fiction—focus on a woman undergoing life change, detailing reflection and action that transforms her and her relationships with others, but our works satisfy romance readers with hopeful, upbeat romantic endings.
The definition of Women's Fiction we have adopted is: RWA-WF defines women's fiction as a commercial novel about a woman on the brink of life change and personal growth. Her journey details emotional reflection and action that transforms her and her relationships with others, and includes a hopeful/upbeat ending with regard to her romantic relationship.
If you're a member of RWA, writing women's fiction with a central love story and an emotionally satisfying, optimistic ending, RWA-WF is the chapter for you. We hope you'll explore our community pages and contact us for more information.
