Local RWA chapters offer a number of conferences, contests, and workshops. Listed below are the chapter contests and conferences scheduled for the coming months.

    **Pages From the Heart Contest

    Fee: $21 FTHRW members, $26 RWA members, $16 for subsequent entries.
    Deadline: June 30, 2017
    Eligibility: Open to published and unpublished authors. Must be RWA member. Published Authors – the writer is contracted or published, but the entry itself must not be contracted or published. Unpublished Authors – the writer has not accepted a publishing offer for, or self-published, a work of original fictional narrative prose of 20,000 words or more (by the contest entry deadline of June 30, 2017.)
    Entry: The first 6000 words of an unpublished work.
    Categories: Historical, Long Contemporary, Short Contemporary, Paranormal/Futuristic/Time Travel, Romantic Suspense/Mystery, & Young Adult.
    Judges: Three first-round judges per entry. The lowest score will be dropped, but will be used in case of a tie.
    Final Judges: Finalists from each category will be judged by two industry professionals.
    Top Prize: Winner in each category receives $30.

    Heart to Heart Contest

    Sponsor: San Francisco Area Romance Writers

    Deadline: August 31, 2017
    Eligibility: Open to all unpublished writers. Prospective entries shall not have ISBN/AISN numbers.
    Entry: All electronic. Enter the magical scene in which your main characters meet for the first time and feel that spark of attraction. Maximum 15 pages (with an optional one-page setup, unjudged). Each entry may only be entered in one category. Submit as many different entries as you wish.

    Judges: Each entry receives three judges, including one PRO/PAN judge. Each judge will provide constructive feedback.
