Local RWA chapters offer a number of conferences, contests, and workshops. Listed below are the chapter contests and conferences scheduled for the coming months.

    **The Molly 2016

    Early Bird Discount of $5 before May 1, 2016.
    Deadline: May 31, 2016. See website for new rules.
    Eligibility: All writers unpublished in book-length fiction within 3 years prior to entry deadline.
    Entry: First pages (up to twenty-five (25)) of your manuscript plus up to 5 pages of your synopsis, which may be commented on but not judged. This can be a combination of Prologue plus Chapter One, but 30 pages maximum, including the synopsis.
    Categories: Most subcategories of romance fiction accepted. See website for details.
    Judges: First round, 3 published and unpublished; second round, 2 published; final round, both an editor and an agent as announced on website. Comments will be returned from the first two rounds of judges.
    Top Prize: The first-place winner in each category will receive the Molly Award Plaque. All other finalists will receive certificates. Results will be publicized on website, loops and in the RWR.

    *I Heart Indie Contest

    Sponsor: Las Vegas Romance Writers
    Fee: $15.00
    Deadline: June 1, 2016.
    Eligibility: The contest judges the covers and back cover copies of books and novellas that were independently published (either electronically or in print) in the United States for the first time prior to April 30, 2016.
    Entry: Entry form, the book’s cover, the text of the back cover copy, and the entrance fee of $15.00. Electronic entries only.
    Categories: Contemporary, Historical, Erotic, Inspirational, Paranormal, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Suspense, Young Adult, New Adult, Novella, and Western (Contemporary or Historical).
    Judges: All the entries will be judged by book club members who are avid readers. Every effort will be made to use book clubs that are genre-specific.
    Final Judges: The finalists will be judged by agents experienced in working with indie authors.
    Prize: The winners will be announced in the RWR and the covers and back cover copy will be published on LVRW’s website. Winners will also receive an electronic badge that can be placed on book covers, websites, or anywhere the winner deems appropriate, that announces the first place win.

    Eligibility: All authors of novel-length or novella-length romance fiction (traditionally and self-published).
    Entry: Books must have an original publication date and copyright of 2015. Electronic books may be entered when not available in print. Must provide a copyright page produced by the publisher. Limit of two books per author and author must provide three copies of the entered book, which will not be returned.
    Categories: Historical, Romantic Suspense, PF&S, Contemporary, Teen, Inspirational, New Adult, and Novella (20,000–40,000 words).
