Industry Participation Opportunities

2014 literacy event

Industry Marketplace

The Industry Marketplace replaces traditional Publisher Spotlights and is a new way that industry professionals from can earn discounted or free conference registration (as publisher spotlights previously did not). At this event, similar to a trade show, publishers and literary agents will have the opportunity to showcase their company's offerings and acquisition goals in a low-key setting. The Industry Marketplace takes place Friday, July 20, from 2:30–5:30 p.m.

To qualify for a comped registration fee, the Marketplace representative(s) must work two hours at the Marketplace or participate in a two-hour combination of the following: Speed Pitch event, Industry Marketplace, or conference workshop (up to two events, one-hour each). Otherwise, the representative will need to pay the $275 industry professional fee.

To sign-up your company for the Industry Marketplace, please complete this online form.
Only Qualifying Markets and RWA-Eligible Agents may participate.

Publisher-Hosted Book Signings

A publisher-hosted book signing allows authors to meet readers (conference attendees) and sign their latest romance releases during a one-and-a-half hour time period. An RWA staff member arranges the date and time of the signing based on available space, in consultation with the publisher. To arrange for a publisher-hosted book signing, e-mail steph.fry@rwa.org to submit a request. All authors participating in the book signing must be registered for the RWA Conference.

“Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing

The 2018 “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing is a mass book-signing event, where hundreds of romance authors sign books (donated by publishers) for fans, with the proceeds of the event donated to local and national literacy organizations. The 2018 Literacy Autographing event will take place Saturday, July 21, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel in Denver, Colorado.

The event raises tens of thousands of dollars for literacy programs every year. RWA receives author requests for book donations through May 1, 2018, and then submits the requests to publishers around mid-May. Publishers donate books for their authors to sign, which are then sold for the cover price at the event.

Speed Pitch

Speed Pitch replaces 10-minute Editor/Agent Appointments with a speed-dating-style format in which authors will meet with each industry professional in a room for three minutes during a one-hour time block. This format encourages authors to make a pithy and intriguing elevator pitch and allows editors and agents to meet with more authors in a short amount of time. This event takes place Friday, July 20, 8:30–11:30 a.m.

Editors and agents may sign up to participate in a one- or two-hour block of pitches. To qualify for a comped registration fee, the editor or agent must take two hours of pitches or participate in a two-hour combination of the following: Speed Pitch event, Industry Marketplace, or conference workshop (up to two events, one-hour each). Unfortunately, due to time and room limitations, the number of editors and agents accepted for the Speed Pitch event will be limited. Only editors from Qualifying Markets and RWA-Eligible Agents may participate.

Sponsorship Opportunities

RWA Conference sponsorship provides a direct link to your target demographic and an avenue to promote your publishing programs, new lines or authors. Your company can be a Platinum-, Gold-, Silver-, or Bronze-level partner through a sponsor buy-in or through the sponsorship of a conference item/event. The total amount spent sponsoring a conference item or event contributes to the total needed to reach a partner level. View items and events available for sponsorship at http://www.rwa.org/sponsorship; e-mail megan.sloan@rwa.org to arrange sponsorship.
