Eligibility: The contest is open to unpublished authors and authors who have not been published in the category they are entering within the last 3 years.
Entry: The first 6,000 words of your original, unpublished, and uncontracted work-in-progress or completed manuscript.
Categories: Historical, Long Contemporary, Short contemporary, Paranormal/Futuristic/Time Travel, Romantic Suspense/Mystery, & Young Adult.
Judges: Three first-round judges per entry. The lowest score will be dropped, but will be used in case of a tie.

*2019 Kathryn Hayes “When Sparks Fly” Contest
Sponsor Chapter: New York City Chapter of RWA
Fee: $20–25 for RWA members; $30–35 for non-RWA members
Deadline: September 1, 2019 (entries open March 1st, 2019 )
Eligibility: Published submissions only, with an original publication date of January 1, 2018–December 31, 2018 (manuscript must have been published via traditional publishing, self-publishing, or small press, and must be available on platforms such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.).
Entry: All entries should be electronic. PDF/ePub/Mobi are acceptable formats.

*Midnight Sun Cover Contest
Sponsor: Alaska Romance Writers (AKRWA)
Fee: $15.00
Deadline: Entries accepted between August 1, 2019 and September 1, 2019.
Eligibility: Any romance novel, novella, or short story published either electronically or in print in the United States for the first time prior to August 30, 2019.
Entry: Completed Entry form, the book’s cover in digital format (JPEG only, see website for details), and the entrance fee.
Judges: All entries will be placed on prominent display in printed format at the Alaska Writer’s Guild (AWG) 2019 conference, co-sponsored by AKRWA. Conference attendees and presenters (approximately 150) will select first-round entries via ballot box.
Final Judges: Trained judges will select the top winner from the top ten entries selected at the conference. Final judging will occur at the annual AKRWA Writing Retreat in early October, with the winner announced in late October. Honorable Mentions: This contest seeks a single, most compelling cover; however, Honorable Mentions will be awarded, including the prestigious Librarian’s Choice Award.
Top Prize: Finalist and Honorable Mention covers will be published on the AKRWA website with the Finalist cover receiving prime location. The Finalist will also be announced on the AWG website. In addition, the Finalist will receive an electronic badge that can be placed on book covers, websites, or anywhere the winner deems appropriate and a $25 Visa cash card.

**The Four Seasons Contest

Eligibility: Open to unpublished and published authors. Unpublished authors may enter any category. The unpublished work should not be self-published within the time frame of the contest. The contest is open to RWA and non-RWA members. Windy City members are not eligible to enter. **The Suzannah 2020

Eligibility: Writers may or may not be published; however, the manuscript must fit within the romance genre and be unpublished and uncontracted. NOTE: NOLA STARs and The Suzannah Contest’s policy of anti-discrimination is as follows: No member, speaker or participant [or entrant in the Suzannah Contest] shall be discriminated against based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, or religion.
Entry: Entry should be a maximum of 7,200 words by computer word count, including synopsis (there is no restriction on length of synopsis, so long as the entire entry does NOT exceed 7,200).
